The first edition of Building Blocks of the Future, the Czech-German Workshop on Nanotechnology Entrepreneurship, was held on May 5, 2015 at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic in Prague. The workshop was initiated by CzechInvest and Germany Trade & Invest and organized with the support of Nanora, the Nano Regions Alliance, and the networking initiative Nano in Germany.
With the main aim to share the experience of doing nanotechnology business and enhance cross-border cooperation between the Czech Republic and Germany, the programme of Building Blocks included four thematic sessions covering various fields of the recent developments in the sector: namely medicine, materials science, lightweight industries, and also everyday materials.
After warm words of welcome from HE Arndt Freytag von Loringhoven, German Ambassador to the Czech Republic, and Rudolf Fischer, president of the Czech-German Chamber of Commerce, the attendees were also provided with a keynote on Intellectual Property Rights to obtain a broader picture of the issues influencing the field of nanotechnology. The workshop attracted approximately 60 people from nanotechnology business and R&D institutes from both sides of the Czech-German border and served as a successful basis for the next editions of Building Blocks of the Future.
